Os presento mi última creación. Siempre me han llamado la atención las chaquetas de estilo francés o más comúnmente llamadas “chanel”. Es una prenda muy versátil que le da un toque chic a cualquier outfit. Da igual que la lleves con unos pantalones o falda estilo sastre o con jeans, queda bien con todo.
Here it is my last make. French Jacket Style or most common known as Chanel Jackets, have always catught my attention. It is a versatile garment. You can both wear it with suited skirts or trousers and with jeans. It will suit you anyway.
Como sabéis, soy una apasionada y fiel seguidora de los cursos que ofrece Craftsy y cuando vi que ofrecían un curso dedicado exclusivamente a la confección de esta chaqueta, The Iconic Tweed Jacket, no me lo pensé dos veces. Con el curso se incluía el patrón Vogue 7975, todo un detalle. Mi sorpresa fue que este tipo de chaquetas tienen una confección totalmente diferente. La tela y el forro van acolchadas como si se tratara de una sola tela. La razón de este acolchado es que le da más textura a la tela ya que suelen ser telas flojas y sin mucho cuerpo. El resultado espectacular!
As you know, I am a big fan of Craftsy courses and when I discovered that there was a class exclusively dedicated to this kind of Jacket, The Iconic Tweed Jacket, I didn’t think it twice and got it. In the course materials was included Vogue 7975 pattern. My surprise came when I discovered that these jackets are completely quilted. Both, fabric and lining are quilted together. The reason is that quilting gives more texture to the garment. The result is amazing!
Decidí hacer la vista B. Para la confección de la chaqueta elegí una tela Buclé en tonos crudos muy ligera y para el forro elegí “silk Dupioni” que le da un aspecto más elegante.
I decided to make view B. I chose a Tweed fabric in a range of beige tones and the lining in Silk Dupioni which gives it an elegant look.
El proceso de confección ha sido laborioso. En primer lugar hice una prenda de prueba o “toile”. En este tipo de prendas es muy importante asegurarse de las medidas ya que a la hora de confeccionar la chaqueta nos será más fácil. Sobre el acolchado tenia mis dudas ya que se trata de dos telas muy diferentes en textura pero he de decir que me ha sorprendido gratamente, le da cuerpo. Si hay algo que me ha parecido difícil no, lo siguiente, es cuadrar el estampado pero al final lo he conseguido.
The process has been laborious. First I made a Toile. This step is important as you ensure the perfect size and when sewing the jacket it is easier. At first I doubted about the quilting as they were two different fabrics but I have to admit that method surprised me. What I think it’s been the most dificult is the pattern matching, I’ve spent hours but at the end i got it.
Como toque final y aquí si que he disfrutado ha sido coser a mano la pasamanería.Creo que coser a mano es el trabajo más bonito del mundo, es infinitamente relajante.
The final touch, adding the trim. I’ve enjoyed it so much… I think handsewing is the most beautiful job in the world, it is infinitely relaxing.
